Alba Carballo Castro

Hi, I’m Alba! I am a PhD student in Computer Science at EPFL 🇨🇭 working under the supervision of Prof. Pascal Frossard. I am also part of the ELLIS PhD Program, where I am co-advised by Prof. Mihaela van der Schaar at the University of Cambridge 🇬🇧.

Before that, I graduated with an MSc in Statistics from ETH Zürich and a BSc in Mathematics & BSc in Statistics from the University of Seville 🇪🇸, with exchanges at Sorbonne University 🇫🇷 and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. I have also completed internships at Roche pRED, the Spanish National Centre for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC), the Hospital Gustave Roussy and the IRB Barcelona.

I am particularly interested in generative models, with a focus on diffusion and flow-matching methods in discrete settings, as well as their interpretability and real-world applications.
